Crikey!

In true Steve Irwin style I open this post with his favourite word! R.I.P, and hope you have some crocs to hunt in heaven! :)

Well, today was interesting: First class in Aural skills III, and I was a bit nervous and curious about what it would be like. And guess what: the first thing we had to do, was to get up i front of everybody and sightsing ON SOLFAGE a little song - which they recorded. HURRAY!!!! *lol* Sightsinging isn't much of a problem for me anymore, but the solfage?? YEAH, right. Haven't done that in 3 years for goodness sake! He said I could sing on lalala for today, so i did, and it went well. But I don't think it'll be a big deal getting into it again. Wohooo! ;)

Had a pretty uneventful weekend after last post, and yesterday I was in a very weird mood - I guess that first KICK you get when coming here is fading, and I was just feeling weird. Not really in a bad mood or depressed, just .... weird, hehe.
Here is a picture from back home just to make me feel good:

And with that I'll say goodbye for this time, and see you later unless I drown while doing water-aerobics!
Cheers mate!

So far so good!

Well, first days of school is over, and the weekend is here.
So far I have had 4 different classes! One of them was just a placement-test to see what level the class was at, and I haven't done that stuff in 2,5 years, so I felt VERY lost, hahaha. But I wrote SOMETHING at least, not too bad if I may say so!
I also had conducting with the well known Dr. Rene Clausen! He seems like a very nice guy, which is good, so I won't freak out, hehe. The conducting class before christmas is very basic, but I think that's good, so I'll get used to what he likes, and his style. Looking forward to it!
I have been to a volleyballgame too this weekend, Concordias team won of course, hehe. :P You can see pictures at My Space! ;)

Oh, and yesterday I was at the choir-audition! That audition was both for Chapel Choir and the womens choir Bel Canto, and if you are good enough, you make the Chapel Choir. I sang some regular warmups, and after those he said; "You sing in tune, I like that!" *hihi* Then I had to sing "Gud sign vår konge god", I think it's named "My Country" or something here. I was to sing with all the passion I had within me, and that's easy when I can't even get up there because of my cold, haha. But I did my best. After that I had to do some sightsinging - which went almost surprisingly well! I think I got it perfect! :D And then I was done, and he told me right away - you're gonna be in Chapel choir and we practise blablabla, hihi. (Usually they just put up a list, but I was one of the last ones to audition, so he knew what he had to work with I guess.) So I'm in Chapel Choir!! :D
Now you might ask why I didn't join the BIG choir, Concordia College Choir. But they apparently audition in the spring, so they filled it up and I can't join. A bit of a bummer, but at least I made the second best! :) WOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :P

And last night I went to a houseparty with my roomies! Jenna is a music major herself, so she knows some of the people I am taking classes with, which is nice. :) So now I know a LOT of music people! One of them is Adam, which has jazzpiano as his second instrument!! His major is composing, and he has written some pieces that different groups and bands at Concordia has played at official events and so on, and although I have never heard him play, he seems talented from what I've heard. So looking forward to hearing him play!
And today I was at my very FIRST Football game in America!! The Power Bowl, the first game after school starts, kind of a big deal I hear. So we went, got into some of the rules, but it didn't help - the Cobbers lost 28-7 to a team they usually win a LOT over, but hey, at least we were there! Got some pics from that too!

Now I will go to bed, although I was supposed to be at a Norwegian girl's house tonight I decided to stay home and do some blogging and homework. So pop in later, and enjoy this picture from the Power Bowl!

Orientation week over...!

Days of our Orientation is over, and tomorrow class starts. *shivers* I am excited, but a little nervous, naturally I guess, hehe. This past week has been so great, and I am truly ashamed of the Norwegian school-system.
I know this is a private school, but still.

I actually got up in front of ALL the new students today while we had our brainstorming on "making the most of college", and stated that - although I have been attending a college for 4 years, this is so different from what you can expect in Norway - ANYwhere I dare say. I thanked them for giving me this opportunity, and although it sounds cheesy, I really mean that. The inspiration and motivation I feel like I have right now is above anything I have felt since - ever I think, I truly feel like I can do this - not just to make good grades, but for myself, to prove that I can create my own future! :)
I sound brainwashed, don't I, haha. But for the first time I feel like the American culture brings something great to the table - they are indipendent, and they believe they can move mountains if the put their mind to it - and I need to be able to think that. I'm gonna move some mountains! ;)

Well, I have a big day tomorrow, so I better go to bed!
Catch you all later, and I will post here about my first day in class!!
Good night all

OH! And by the way: I made the Vocal Jazz Ensemble group (auditions were today), so I will be singing with them! :D Auditions for the choir is Friday, I'll keep you updated ;)

Roomies

Hello again to all ;)

I thought I'd introduce my roommates to you all, so behold:

This is Cecily Hewes, she is a senior here at Concordia, and she is a total sweetheart! We get along very well. She taking art this year, but she's not sure what she wanna do for a living yet.
Next!

This is Heather Leet who is a Junior here at Concordia. She is majoring in nursing, and she's going to have a very busy year. This is who I share my bedroom with, and she's a cool girl, hehe. Don't know her all that well yet, but she seems nice! :) Both Heather and Cecily sing in the women's choir over here! :D
Next! :P

Last but SO not least, there is Jenna Wolf! (Picture coming later) She was the one who contacted me by email to hear when I got here and so on. She is also a very nice girl, and we got along from the beginning. She is majoring in music, as me, and she plays the French Horn!

I think we all are getting along well, and I don't think we'll have too much trouble through the year. I love the fact that I'm staying in an appartment, but Already I can feel that I've been used to living on my own for quite some time. But I'll get used to it soon, And people won't be here all the time once school starts, so it'll be fine.
Later on I will post some other pictures with people I've gotten to know this last week, there are some pretty fun people aropund here! :D

Later folks!

Finally here!

Wow. I'm actually here!
After all kinds of troubles and moments of not really knowing, I am finally here in my dorm at Concordia College!! I met up with one of my roommates earlier today, Jenna, and she seems really nice :D I was supposed to meet one of my other roommates tonight too, but she hasn't shown herself yet, and I'll be going to bed after writing this blog ;)

My travel over here was no problem really, but a bit long since I couldn't sleep. Was good landing Tuesday, got wrose wednesday though, I have gotten a bit of a cold, probably because of airconditioning and stuff, yuck. Hopefully it'll pass before the audtions for the choirs go off!

It's been a busy day, with orientations and stuff, lots of info, hopefully some of it will stay in my head, hehe. More going on tomorrow, so I should really get some sleep! Janice is taking me to Verixon to get my cellphone tomorrow, I'll mail that out when I get back :) Janice has been so great while I've been here, I owe a LOT to her really! So thanks to Janice :)

I really should be going to bed though, I'll post later!
But I have a really good feeling about this, I really do. :D :D

Good night and sleep tight ya'll :P

Whatever!!

I decided to just not give a damn about all that's been going on - I got myself into this mess, yes, but I'll get out of it eventually. Past is past, and future is future, and right now I'm gonna focus on the present. And that is having an AWESOME year in the US!!!!!! And in 18 days I'll be on my way!!!!!!! *tingles in my tummy*

I was loosing hope and faith for a while, but now that I've gotten my tickets worked out, and the VISA and all, I am feeling that the "power" is mine again, and I truly feel this year will make a difference. My teacher called me today talking about my assignement that went to hell, giving advice for my next move on it, and he really have faith in me too, which means a lot to me. He is a real good ............. and if someone is to know what I can do, then he is the one! ;)
Anyway, I know I have more on board than I go for, so it's just a matter of having the right motivation, and going abroad is nnot a bad idea at all!! So now I'm sitting here trying to think of what and who I want to be - noone knows me there, so I can be whoever I want to, it's just a matter of having the courage to live it out.

I even had this crazy idea of going all the way with bying a new wardrobe and all, hihi.... You know, should I go for the strict but sexy/naughty officelady/secetary, or the sporty annoying always happy person, or the trendy araogant type, hihihihi..... But.... don't think I'll be able to pull that off both moneywise nor personalitywise, and besides, it's not really me, I want to be me, just a better me ;)

Talking about a better me - I really don't wanna post halfnaked pics of me here, but I almost feel tempted because since I started working out there has been some NICE changes, hehe. But the best part is that I can feel the change inside as well. My body is SO much more happy this way! :D Besides, it gives great selfconfidence being able to be this disciplined and to know that you, and only yourself has made this happen! So I feel good! :D

Well, either way I'm looking forward to going, and WOW is it gonna be a wild ride!!! Now that I'm going abroad, I'll try to keep this place a bit more updatet, so I don't have to mail everyone all the time, hihi. :P

Crap.

Well, this is crap.
Half of my exams went straight to hell, and now I don't even know if my program at Concrodia will count for anything back home. SPLENDID!!!!!!!
It's definately a bummer, but I try to stay positive and just enjoy the moment right now! And I have a new project going on:
Exercising!!
I've been quite active the past wekk, and I'm a bit proud, cuase I've been saying to myself for so long that I need to get up and do soemthing. And Now I am doing something! :D I have a LOT more energy, and it feels great! :) Looking forward to having a fit body too, hehe... ;)

Well, I better go do some sensible stuff, like hang up some laundry or something. Did some of that yesterday, and even cleaned up the kitchen a tad! This new energy makes you do weird stuff, haha.....!! ;)

Fare thee well my lonely ones.

And OH: I have not posted this yet, which is a miracle, but WOHOOO!!!!!!! Isn't it awesome? :D
